Hahoe Village UNESCO Heritage SiteAndong Hahoe Village is a village designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a typical clan village where the Pungsan Ryu family has lived for generations. It is a place where the beauty of traditional Korean houses is alive. The village name, Hahoe (河回), is derived from the Nakdong River that wraps around the village in an 'S' shape. Hahoe Village has been famous since the Joseon Dynasty for being one of the best places to live according to feng shui. Unlike other villages in Korea, where houses face due south or southeast, Hahoe Village shows a contrasting pattern. Another characteristic is the layout where thatched houses form a circle around large tile-roofed houses.
Mungyeong Saejae Open Set The Mungyeong Saejae Open Set was established by the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) in 2000 to film historical dramas set in the Goryeo Dynasty. The current Mungyeong Saejae Open Set, with the support of Mungyeong City, demolished the old set representing the Goryeo Dynasty and completed a new set representing the Joseon Dynasty in 2008. Covering an area of 70,000 square meters, the set includes 103 buildings such as Gwanghwamun, Gyeongbokgung, Donggung, Seowungwan, the Royal Office, and noble houses. Including 22 existing thatched houses and 5 tiled houses, there are a total of 130 set buildings. It has been the main filming location for notable dramas such as "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" and "The Moon Embracing the Sun," as well as movies like "Untold Scandal" and "The Face Reader." Numerous historical dramas have been filmed here, and occasionally, visitors may be lucky enough to witness filming in progress.
Mt. Juwang Juwangsan Mountain (720.6m) is located on the ridgeline of the Taebaek Mountain Range, the central backbone of the Baekdu-daegan, which extends southeast across the Korean peninsula. It is one of Korea's three major rocky mountains, known for its stunning scenery created by numerous rocky peaks and deep, beautiful valleys. On March 30, 1976, it was designated as the 12th national park. Juwangsan features four waterfalls and cave temples, and it is especially beautiful in the autumn when the leaves change color.
